Ok. I'll attempt greater precision from a different angle. I see the word "Society" as a word with multiple overlapping meanings. Depending upon the context it's used, there are more precise, better words that can take its place. As a shortcut on occasion, it's fine. "There are these social forces and when taken as a whole, all at once, grouped together, we refer to these things as 'Society'". I'm fine with that. I've done much the same by including all of mathematics/numbers under the catchall of "metaphors" and going around proving it as best I can. However, while my usage of metaphor is semi-novel (spearheaded by Lakoff but likely a number of Philosophers prior; probably Wittgenstein - more your turf than mine) - the use of Society as an all-in-one term encompassing a diverse family of social constructs, is COMMON and used inappropriately, imho. Jonathon David Turner did an excellent thing by reframing the OP where the term Market would be a more appropriate term than Society. Now *that* is an answerable question. I can answer questions about Market. But about Society? it gets too messy. People start talking about Hermits.
