Oh, there's plenty of new religions besides spirituality. When i was 12/13 I picked up Linda Goodman's Star Signs (or Sun Signs? I think I read both), along with a few Ancient Aliens book by Van Dannicker or whatever. I ate all that stuff up... played around with what they called New Age back then. Anyway, by 14, it got old for me. I'm 43 now, but learning Lucid dreaming _has been_ pretty useful out of it all. The newest religions I see are New Atheism, which has a decidedly Southern Baptist Christian feel to it (probably 'cause its linked to the 19th century historical debate which never seems to die). In that religion, you can usually spot the frequent word Fallacy uttered in place of Sin, but otherwise, no different. There's another one worshiping various patterns found in mathematics... ones that would be NICE if they corresponded to reality (like String Theory and 98% of Theoretical Physics), but a lot of it just doesn't. Both can be, but are not always necessarily, related to Scientism, which used to be more of an early 20th century thing, "Science Will Do It All" or "Science + Reason is everything", which have large fan bases. It's often found as a companion with New Atheism, although not always. It's usually easy to spot the equivalent of priests and bishops in these subcultures. But then again, i probably just see the world in a weird way tongue emoticon
