I'd say that if instinct _was_ a real thing, which it may well
   be, and if that elephant was painting due to a training and a
   rewards system, it would be likely that BF Skinner was correct
   about us all, and he might well have been.

   Still, I prefer to believe there are choices and we make them in
   some fashion - even life forms we have trouble communicating
   with at present. All we can REALLY try to communicate with
   properly is other humans... and... well, misunderstanding is far
   more common than understand even amongst our species smile
