Real discussion is communication. People talk to other people. They agree, they disagree. When they have misunderstandings, they try to figure out ways to resolve the misunderstandings through negotiating towards a common understanding through a series of exchanges. This is about as real as a discussion gets. If there's a subset of a real discussion that you wish to partake in, one with certain sets of rules particular to that form of discourse, I can play. I just have to know the rules. I've played many games with my nephew through the years - he's 10 years old now, and I've learned to let him define the rules *first*. Then I learn the rules of the game he wants to play, and then I can play them. I'm using the same thing here. I need your rules. Then I can play the game you want to play.
