Depends on knowledge-about. Some areas that are active areas of
   research will post gains. Others, such as history, will post
   losses, as old data is overwritten with new. I agree that
   fighting over beliefs-about are silly, but not the numbers way
   of getting there. But... I'm also likely wrong*
