yes, that's relatable. I can pay more attention when I pay attention to something else. My attention is contintually full: both background and foreground attention engaged in a fast-task-switching manner and there's no room for the mind to wander. Two at once: I think that's why listening to music helps some people, or having a TV going, or a fan running, except in the case of dual-task switching, both streams are full, active and engaged.
