I can't wait to see what they'll discover next.* John Ellis' lecture got me excited for the future of particle physics again.* I always believed there'd be "more more" but then you see all the media articles and science fans going, "We're almost finished", which to me seems rather unlikely. Can I see a use for the quarks?* Absolutely.* Imagine fast processors. REALLY FAST processors. The short lifetime of the top quark for example, if it becomes a manipulateable thing, could be used as a part of the process.* Its lifespan's shortness would be a benefit, perhaps as a sort of timing mechanism.* I don''t know.* What seems so short today might seem like eons to a future tech we haven't come close to yet.
