Indeed. There's nothing special about "smallest number of
   assumptions". Occam's razor is a nice guideline but not a great
   way to do EVERYTHING because we don't always HAVE all of the
   necessary variables, just the minimum required to prove a
   point... which sometimes isn't enough in the grand scheme.
   (grand scheme being a metaphor for "encompassing reality as it
   is"... or at least as best as we're able to do. We can ALWAYS do
   better)
