Unfortunately, reproduction within the sciences is generally "a
   nice idea" that's rarely put into practice. If an argument is
   strong enough, it's accepted as "close enough". Papers published
   to verify another's study don't get the funding in the way that
   something novel does, so most shoot for novel findings.
