   as a kid in the 80s learning about this stuff, I always thought
   he was given a bad rap. I didn't see anything wrong with Steady
   State - the idea of there being an actual "nothing" between
   things didn't make sense even as a teenager: after all, there's
   fields there - and fields are a something.
