Time manipulation is built into our very languages. Look at how
   we freely create fictional alternative Universes ALL of the
   time: "If only I had done such-and-such... then I wouldn't be in
   the mess I'm in today". Fictional Alternative Universe. We do it
   all of the time. Most people find it rather depressing. I just
   find people who are DOING the stuff I _would've_ been doing if I
   had followed other paths, and I cheer them on as "alternate
   me's" that work for me. They're doing my job for me, frees me
   up. === One significant alt.universe me was gong to go into
   Theoretical Physics. [this is from high school]. Set it up as
   the major I wanted. In the end, never finished college, the
   professor I wanted for theoretical physics was away for a year,
   and I ended up doing child cognitive psych/development classes
   and programming mostly instead. In any case, had I *gone* down
   that road, I'd likely be something like a Brian Greene today.
   So, he's working for me, pursing that direction. He's doing a
   fine job, although i disagree with me on several points tongue
   emoticon == I dabbled with numerology a little bit, but once you
   get into Chinese Remainder Theorem a little or start playing
   with the bases, things get all wacky. I accidentally made an
   Ulam Spiral in Excel once. Never heard of the guy but I found a
   pattern and was like, OH I FOUND SOMETHING!... only to discover
   a dude figured it out while doodling in math class in the 60s
   and became famous for it. Oh well - glad I didn't go into math.
   == Mike Jittlov. Cult classic. He made a short in 79. Spent
   years getting the funding. Made a movie about a guy making a
   movie on a shoe string budget. Cult nerd classic. FINALLY
   released in 1988, 9 years later.

   seconds in the whole film. Every special effect you see (and a
   lot of them are VERY subtle) he drew on the frames with his bare
