I enjoyed reading this article. A graphic designer had to
   describe some of what he did for a living to a group of 4+5 year
   olds.

   His answers and the way he went about it was brilliant.
   *
   So how do you describe "design"?
   *
   "Design is about making something easy to use, or easy to
   understand."
   *
   But what about "graphic design"?
   *
   "I use colours, letters and pictures to help people understand
   things."
   *
   The definition he gave for "design" was brilliant and
   surprisingly powerful. I wouldn't have thought of "design" in
   that way and yet, that's what it is isn't it?
