Whenever somebody would complain about a "big company" (or govt agency) taking too long with something, I always say the same thing: "Probably on the back of a secretary's desk. Just give a call to remind them" It's one of those "everyday obvious" solutions - that's usually true - but when someone is wrapped up in crazy reasons for why something isn't getting done that's supposed to ... and they take it personally and have all kinds of personal reasons why it's "little me against big them" ,it's amazing the results of a little phone call and a polite tone of voice can bring.
