We tend to give the Rose a similar kind of reverence as the
   Lotus does in Buddhism. Back when i was doing Buddhist-y stuff
   (I still do a lot, as it speaks very well for an awful lot of
   things) - i'd substitute Rose for Lotus and people "got it"
   right away without having to change anything else. Cultural
   thing I guess. "
