^embarking an impossible mission: I fired up an old Windows 2000
   laptop, and i'm transferring 3 1/2' floppy disks to my 500 GB
   (1/2 terrabyte) external hard drive! i always dated everything:
   I see dates like: 1993, 1988, 1991 - 15-20+ year old floppies.
   Let's see how well these things held on to information.^
