^Things to appreciate: 1936, Paul Eisler made the first printed circuit. Think about this: the little green boards in your computer, phone, mp3 player, dishwasher - EVERYTHING it seems - were made basically by a form of PRINTING (photolithography). Yes - printing. Start with copper coated board. Print out your circuit on a clear piece of plastic. REMOVE the copper you DON'T need, to reveal the circuit. What's cool about this is: everything could get smaller and more powerful and CHEAP (miniturization). All due to some really smart people designing circuits and PRINTING them. And yes, you can even do it at home. Those little green boards with all the copper lines were PRINTED on there. "I'd like 100 wedding invitations printed up". "I'd like 1000 business cards printed up". "I'd like 1000 circuits printed up". The printed circuit came out WAY before a home computer - even before TRANSISTOR RADIOS (think early 60s kids with their mono earphone and transistor radio - before that). thank you, paul eisler. and ps: the all hailed microchip (integrated circuit) ALSO are ultimately, thanks to him. (microchips are more complex than the green boards you find in everything - but the integrated circuit (microchip) starts off the same way - being printed.... amazing stuff can be found in what's all around - just stop and appreciate - we are all using it right now.^
