CAMSHAFT controls the top half of the engine. CRANKSHAFT controls the bottom half of the engine. They are connected by a TIMING BELT. The TIMING BELT controls the WATER PUMP. It's kept in good tension by the TENSIONER. The TIMING BELT keeps the VALVES opening and closing IN TIME with the PISTONS moving up and down (run by the CRANKSHAFT). *whew*. Now i'm 'getting' what all these magic engine part words are all about.
