^U learn, i learn: After watching Eric thecarguy's video on
   engine basics, digesting it, sharing it, i stumbled across this
   video this morning. It shows an amazing display of all the basic
   parts of an engine coming together, then you watch it run in a
   way that would be difficult to do in real life. i'm working to
   get an appreciation for this everyday piece of human inginuity.
   What amazed me is that i was able to name an awful lot of the
   parts as they were coming together, 'ooh! that's the crankshaft
   - that's the dual overhead camshaft - that's the exhaust
   manifold - that's the valve springs'. Being ignorant for so long
   was inexcusable. it'll take time but i'm getting there. And i
   hope some of you are too. it's easy to be amazed by uncommon
   things -- but to be amazed at everyday things is something
   special.^
