Hmmm... *I can believe in self-healing through visualization, which is a process that calls on a higher force to heal oneself. *(whether the higher force is God or a mysterious ability we all have to heal ourselves, I just don't know). But it still requires a conscious effort on the part of a person - yourself. *In this case, the "inbetween dude" is yourself. *You act as a channeler for the higher forces to come through your body and heal yourself. But for God to decide to act on a dead body - alone - ... I always think of God as being rather passive, watching what goes on in the world, but only intervening when asked for by people... > >I like a good show :-) *I was just a couple of steps away from going into > >the Anglican Church - the show and flair - the incense, the men/boys' > >choir, the ritual, the flashy glittering Bible, reflecting the prayers > >of all into heaven... > > Me too! *But I like a more participatory show. *In some ways our services are > like some black churches I've seen Ah yes - the best funeral I ever attended (if there is such a thing!) was when I was 14 years old, and I went to a friend's mother's funeral, in the heart of Newark, New Jersey. *The celebration was certainly uplifting! > >But it seemed passive. *I want to be a > minister in a QUESTIONING church ->one that teaches everyone - kids and adults > alike - to have strong faith>but to never be afraid to challenge your own > faith, or to be challenged. > > Yeah, I think that spirituality is a PROCESS that goes on forever. *In fact, > one of the problems that I have with most organized religion is that they > seem frozen in the past. *I don't see how you can have a > relationship with God (or another human for that matter) that isn't > dynamic (at least not a healthy relationship). In the sense of the Catholic Church, the reason they are gaining popularity at such a *high* rate is that they provide -answers-. 2000 years of doctors, psychologists, healers, ministers, thoughtful folks, scientists... all of those people who make up the church, and have been on various committees in the past and present, have melted together a service and a religion that will have an answer for nearly every human question you might have. *And yet - I was never good at accepting someone else's answers without 1) proof or 2) finding out for myself. Otherwise, I would probably convert to Catholocism without any delay :-) -- Kenneth Udut * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *ku...@ritz.mordor.com Listowner of Y-RIGHTS@SJUVM.BITNET - discussion on the rights of kids/teens Newsgroup: alt.religion.shamanism Topic: shamanism - described. via: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/alt.religion.shamanism/rgffR7h-Aa0/VYju0PjuE9sJ
