I remember trying to raise up money to send back down to "save
   the school" -- but I think by the time the announcement came out
   about the money, the deed was already done. I'm kinda lucky,
   because when I graduated, it seemed the Vail-Deane would go on
   forever, and I could come back and visit anytime. When you
   graduated, it was "the end" (it must have been a bizarre last
   few months). But the class AFTER you, especially for the
   Vail-Deane Lifers, they couldn't even get a chance to be in the
   Senior Room! "
