Today I was able to get a video signal out of the $3 Power Macintosh 8100/100.
I picked up a DB-15 connector from my local electronics store and soldered the
R, G, B, HSync and VSync to the corresponding pins on a sacrificial VGA cable.
As I suspected, after playing the startup sound, the question mark floppy disk
appears likely indicating a hard drive failure. Even so, to see anything is very
encouraging.

I still have no way of connecting a keyboard and mouse. ADB is just a 4 pin DIN
connector like S-Video so finding cable isn't an issue. Beyond that my options
seem to be forking out the money for a USB-ADB converter like the Wombat by
BMOW, or figuring out how to implement a converter with an Arduino. The latter
is more enticing given the total cost of the project so far is $5.70 and this 
would also be cheap.
