Gopher overcomes the nasty tendency of the Internet to spiral into hopeless
messes of incompatible DOMs, languages, servers, and patches.  But it still 
doesn't solve the most fundamental problem - illustrating the overarching
connections between disparate bits of information.  There are merely links
to other sites, and documents.  But no coherent paths, illustrated on one
screen and which can be taken in by the mind instantaneously.

Perhaps a system that spawns the bastard stepchild of the two?
