Does anyone know what Jeff Silvers is really like? A friend of mine in 
Atlanta wants to know if he should work for him.

ALOHA! To all my friends in Hawaii. 

This is Jim Erickson, emailing from Hyde Park, New York. Quite a fiery 
discussion going on about an old friend of mine. And a few that are 
quite positive that I never even met Jeff Silvers. Well I did. And 
worked with him quite closely for a couple o' years. 

The fact is, that if Clear Channel, or AMFM or whoever owned the station 
at the end of '99 could have paid me enough to support my family and 
live comfortably, I'd still be in Honolulu, with my biggest worry being 
getting enough sunscreen to the middle of my back. Was Jeff great to 
work for? No. Knew how to kick in the pants, not pat on the back. And 
improvising was a big no-no. Read the prepared text, as written. Thus 
 of one of the great loves of my life---IMPROVISING LIVE ON 
AIR!! Does anyone remember what THAT'S like?? I wouldn't have left JUST 
because of Jeff Silvers though. 

If you don't mind what's become of the industry, and don't mind reading 
liner cards, go to work in Atlanta. Myself and some of my friends have 
found other careers, 'cause the one they knew is, as they say, 
"History."
