[ Changes I wonder if I shouldn't have said anything about Ubuntu in recent entries. I found out that they are going to be ditching the GNU coreutils, and instead going with ones written in Rust[1]. I'm not a developer and I don't understand all the details, particularly Rust, but I'm not really jumping for joy at this news. As many others have said, If it ain't broke don't fix it. I saw a video that talking about Ubuntu's move, and the possible motivation behind it. A lot of commenters stated there are political motives, and others argued back and forth, so I gave up reading. I am aware of things going on in the FOSS community, but only on a superficial level. I would rather remain ignorant of it all, if for nothing but my own sanity. I have two other machines for which I have to make alternate plans, and this thing with Ubuntu has me thinking of going with Garuda Linux. I don't have much experience with Arch-based Linuxen, but it appears to be well suited towards gaming. And visually it is really stunning. I mean the different flavors are really gorgeous. Yesterday we woke up to a very cold Tokyo. It was rainy, then it snowed, and then there was thunder and lightening. It snowed so hard that it stuck in spots around the city, and it made the evening news. By the afternoon it had already gone away, and we had a really nice sunset. Today it was quite warm in the sun, but cold in the shade, especially when the wind blew. I belive that means that Spring is nearly here. Instead of spending my day off reading people's online bickering, I grabbed a camera and some rolls of film and went for a nice walk downtown. The cherry blossoms are not out yet, but according to the news they should be out soon. [1] https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/ubuntu-2510-plans-to-swap-gnu-coreutils- for-rust/ar-AA1Beaxn
