=========================================================================== Close to the Edge =========================================================================== Title : Close to the Edge Artist : Yes Genre : Progressive Rock Released: 1972 Time for my favorite album of all time, "Close to the Edge" by Yes. This is their progressive rock opus from 1972, featuring only three tracks on initial release. The opener and near-19-minute "Close to the Edge", which includes multiple subsections and movements, each with its own flow and mood, but each connecting and returning to certain lines and themes. Steve Howe's guitar skills, Chris Squire's picked bass, Jon Anderson's soaring vocals, Bill Bruford's tight prog drumming, Rick Wakeman's keyboard wizardry, all of it is powerful and awe-inspiring. "And You And I" features more acoustic guitar from Howe, and more flowing prog movements, ending in an apocalyptic refrain from Anderson that gets me every time. Track three is a more straightforward rock tune, "Siberian Khatru". I can't say enough good things about this legendary album. Favorite Tracks: Close to the Edge, And You And I, Siberian Khatru
