JOB HUNT UPDATE (Posted 2008-06-06 16:36:29 by ArchPaladin) The job hunt is progressing, and I think it's going well. I try to do a little bit of work on job hunting daily, and generally each day I'll get a lead or two - mainly people who are interested in my resume and want to give me a call. I have a few companies who look like they're serious about putting forth an offer, but they are a little slow to move (for various reasons) and so it may be a week or so before I hear anything definitive. I'm getting more comfortable in the interviewing process, which has been the hardest part for me as I don't like to sell my accomplishments. (I always have to remember to be enthusiastic if I can and try to tie in the things that I've done with the job that's open.) By and large I think I've gotten past the leave-interview-feeling-crappy-for-being-an-idiot phase, which is partly due to having a lot of phone screens and the corresponding "they want me" feeling that comes with it. However, I have come to realize through interviews both the positives and negatives of the things I've done here at my current job, and that has led to some sobering understandings. The foremost among them is that I've been the biggest fish in a small pond, and I wasn't quite as high up the ladder as I thought. I think this whole job search has been a healthy process to go through, as it throws into sharp realization both my strengths and my weaknesses. This is considerably better than any review process I could have gone through. -------- There are no comments on this post.
