Hearsay has it that humans taste like bacon.  Something to do with our
genetic similarities.  I understand that some cannibalistic tribes in South
America have a name for human meat: "long-pig".

I mention this today as there is word through Slashdot [

that the UK has approved the first human-pig hybrid organism to be created
for stem cell harvesting.  This is interesting news, which is only made
more uncomfortable when you realize that there are many diseases in pigs
that would be very dangerous to mankind that could now have a potential
organism to use for a cross-species jump.  How likely is this scenario? 
I'm not really sure, but it makes for interesting fiction.

I know this is the first I've posted for a while, but most of what has
consumed my life recently has been my job hunt, and I feel that no one
needs to know all the nuanced up-and-down details of what has gone on
there.  There is some good news that I expect to be able to share soon, but
I don't want to jinx anything, so I will remain quiet.  I do have news that
concerns other things, but I will leave that to a soon-to-come separate
post, away from all this bacon-scented weirdness.
