SEA SQUIRTS (Posted 2009-03-16 10:40:20 by ArchPaladin) I have just found out about an animal called a tunicate [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunicate ] [wikipedia.org], which also goes by the colloquial name "sea squirt". Apparently this creature spends half of its life motile, searching for a good rock on which to attach, and then the other half of its life is spent sedentary, attached to the rock as a filter feeder. What makes this particularly interesting is that once it has attached itself to its new home, it consumes its own brain and nervous system that allowed it to move there in the first place. I think this has an interesting spiritual corollary: don't ever get to used to where you are, because you'll lose the ability to adapt out of it. -------- There are no comments on this post.
