MORE HOUSING NEWS (Posted 2007-07-11 17:33:45 by ArchPaladin) So the latest news on the great housing epic is that today we had a housing inspector come by and walk my fiancee and I through the place and discussed with us all the different things about the property that we should be aware of in taking care of it. It was a very useful discussion to have. Partly because there were a lot of things that I'd never considered before, and partly because there were things that I didn't even know would be necessary to maintain or be concerned about. This guy took us through _every_ little nook in the place, including the crawlspaces in the attic, inside parts of the furnace, and even examined the screws attaching the dishwasher to the counter. We came away from everything with mostly good news. While the roof of the condo is in a state of considerable disrepair, the condo association has scheduled a complete replacement of it this summer (we're trying to get a firmer date for the replacement in writing). The furnace is old and needs to be looked at, but we can include inspections and warranties and such in negotiations for the property. Everything else was either in good shape or required very little in the way of alteration. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done in terms of securing financing for the place - this has been the largest hurdle by far. I've been trying to keep up with a lot of related financial jargon and stuff like that but it's rather easy to get washed up in everything, and this makes it hard to know just which offering for a loan really gives me the best deal. I hope to have that squared out within a week or two, as proof of financing needs to be present in the not-too-distant future. I'm still positive about the way this is turning out, but I'll be considerably more at ease once the bulk of the financial discussion is over and the details are worked out. -------- There are no comments on this post.
