UPDATE ABOUT STUFF (Posted 2007-10-05 12:26:05 by ArchPaladin) My apologies again for being neglectful of my posting. There have been a lot of changes and stuff at home that have needed my attention. I am going to try and make this post somewhat generic to cover all that has been going on. This month I am supposed to fill out and put in my admission for application to NESA. I have been looking at the application for some time (most of it is rather easy) but have consistently been lazy about printing it out, mostly because I have to do the printing at work (as my printer needs more ink) and I usually have something else to do at work. I also have to go and get passport photos (why they need this for the application I'm not quite sure), but this is a good thing as I've also needed to renew my passport. My fiancee and I have pushed up our wedding date from October of next year to this Thanksgiving. This move is partly because we're already living together and it seems rather stupid to wait such a long time to go through the marriage process, and partly for other reasons that need not be discussed. It feels rather odd to me, though, since up to this point the whole idea about getting married seemed distant and didn't really affect me personally. Now that the date is close, I have to get used to the idea that all of this is actually happening. We have decided to ditch most all of our grand theme and plans for the wedding and go entirely in the opposite direction with something simple and direct. In some ways I would like to keep the theme and the grand plans and such, but now that the idea of marriage is very real and personal none of that great vision seems to have any real substance to provide to the wedding ceremony itself. I can see it for the bells and whistles that it is. My experience with the Dialogue Church from a couple posts ago came and went with little fanfare. I would not say that my expectations of the experience were misplaced or wrong, but in some ways I was trying to make it something that it wasn't. For anyone who is looking for a good spiritual community that is Christian-based and conscientious of the previous experiences and personal interpretations of others, that place will probably be good for you. However, I don't think they are very serious about discovering and pursuing any deep spiritual meaning or affecting real life change - it's merely a good place for conversation. ILMA proceeds as usual. I still have yet to advertise heavily because I can't seem to find a time or any energy to do it. This month may give me some opportunities as my fiancee and roommate are working at Witch's Woods, and my weekends are more free than previous. The student body is holding steady at around 5-7 people, which is fine for me, as it's just enough to let the organization pay its bills. This Saturday our classes are canceled because we are going to a tournament in Manchester. My business partner is far more excited about this than I am - I get the impression he needs the presence of the competition and the direction it provides to help his training along, though he doesn't say this. I am going primarily because it's a good chance to get our name out there and let people know we exist. My spirit for competition in tournaments died out a couple of years ago when the focus of my training shifted to a more personal sphere. Still, there is good entertainment value in going, and it is good motivation for the students too. I am well into my semester of classes (really just one class) at MCC. The professor presents good lectures but the labs are rather dull and involve more than a small amount of busywork. It is good that I like the subject material, otherwise I think I would be upset about having to show up. I have been trying to get some VOIP phones up and running in the house for a while. The delay has partly come from lack of time, and partly because of consistent roadblocks when I try to set stuff up. Earlier this week I made a little progress but I have yet to see how everything will really turn out. I hope to put this issue behind me within the next week, as completing this work has become something of a time and energy sink. I also have to upgrade Wordpress, which is the program used to run this site. Depending on how it goes, there may be some slight layout changes or other adjustments that could make things look odd. Hopefully none of that will occur and this is the last you'll hear of the process. You'll notice that most everything of what has been going on is not very entertainment or relaxation oriented. In fact most of this stuff has been rather stressful. I've been feeling that a vacation or other break could be useful, but right now there are too many things to finish before that is a good idea. So with that said, I'm going to go and continue doing all that stuff. -------- There are no comments on this post.
