WEEK OFF

So I took this week off so that I could have some downtime from work, and
perhaps use it to help keep the job search going.  I've done some reading
and some writing.  Had a phone interview yesterday - haven't heard back
from them though.

My wife and I heard two nights ago that her grandfather on her father's
side died.  He had gone in for shoulder surgery and his heart didn't adapt
well to the shock to his system that the surgery entailed (at least that's
all we know at the moment).  He died a couple hours after going home.

This has obviously been something of a blight for my wife and I both, and
her most especially.  This is the first grandparent that she's lost that
she actually knew, and she's been rather down.  I only vaguely knew the
man.

I've been trying to help by being around to talk to, but having never
really been in a similar situation myself I'm not exactly sure what to do
other than just listen.  I posted earlier when Colby passed away, but I
never knew him very well - certainly not as well as my wife knew her
grandfather.  I suppose that there's not really anything I can do except be
present and listen, but it doesn't feel sufficient.
