COMMUNITY HEALTH (Posted 2008-02-16 17:21:22 by ArchPaladin) This is really cool. [ http://www.communityacupuncturenetwork.org/ ] [communityacupuncturenetwork.org] This is perhaps the first healthcare model that I've seen that is really, honestly focused on making healthcare affordable to the masses. And it's in my line of work. The going rate for acupuncture treatments in America is about $60-100. And for acupuncture to be effective, people need to have it regularly. This tends to create clinics that focus on individuals with the ability to pay often, and thus have a lot of disposable income. Now for less privileged people, this is out of the question. So instead, what practitioners do is they get a bunch of recliners (instead of tables), put them all in a circle, and take treatments in a group of people. The rates are $15-40 depending on income, and people can be in a more relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the company of the people they are sitting with, rather than just see one acupuncturist alone. This is called community acupuncture, or CA for short. I understand there is a CA clinic not too far from where I live. Perhaps they will need a new practitioner in about five or six years. -------- There are no comments on this post.
