ABSOLUTELY NO TIME (Posted 2008-03-21 17:06:53 by ArchPaladin) I have done very little in the way of marketing or advertising for ILMA. This was brought once again to my mind yesterday, as I had a short visit from an old martial arts friend. He has stated that he would like to help advertise and market my school. Yesterday he was asking me a bunch of questions about what I had done to market and where I had put up advertising and such, and I didn't really have any answers to give him. I find myself conflicted when it comes to ILMA. My martial arts development is primarily personal in nature, and while I do enjoy teaching and having students, I haven't really adopted the dream of having a large number of schools and hundreds of students and instructors. I'm personally just fine with having enough students to pay the rent and keep the business afloat, and because of that, I feel no need to advertise. I know that's a bad leap of logic (ie. small school requires no advertising) because I will never draw in or retain enough students without any real marketing. However, it is a way of thinking I fall into easily when I realize that I have $0 and about an equal amount of time to actually complete the marketing. I think that when the weather gets warmer I may have to go to a park with some advertising material and practice my kata. I could invite whoever of my friends/students wanted to come along. No big advertising hype or anything. Just a small public practice that might get people's attention. I could even do that weekly and get in some regular practice. -------- There are no comments on this post.
