To Be Written S. Gilles 2017-05-19 Recently, I had cause to spin up a rather old VM. The circumstances are not interesting, but as I scrolled through screenfulls of ‘console-kit-daemon’ in htop, I wondered what had become of consolekit. Back in 2011 or so, I switched to Gentoo because it was the best-supported distro I knew of which allowed disabling consolekit. These days, I believe consolekit has been mostly replaced by some other piece of software I probably would dislike as much. Still, I decided to see if the particular bug which had driven me away was ever fixed. And, a few seconds later...[0][1][2] About ConsoleKit is a framework for keeping track of the various users, sessions, and seats present on a system. It provides a mechanism for software to react to changes of any of these items or of any of the metadata associated with them. Defining the Problem To be written. No, it most certainly has not.
