March 10, 2012 My daughter came back from her trip to Houston, this evening. She won an award for Business Etiquette. She came back rather excited and more friendly than usual. She spent her money at the mall on odd stuff, such as demon-like contact lenses. Upon her arrival, I took the family to Pizza Hut so we could chat without the tameness that is usual upon arriving at home. Once home, the ladies went straight to bed. My son and I are up late. I put together a Linux desktop from spare parts. He is excited to have his own computer, primarily; but, I think he likes that he has a gaming machine of his own. He enjoys playing games; but, we use his Wii most of the time to watch TV shows and movies. I tended to use the office computer quite a bit before converting my own laptop to Linux. We are both using Ubuntu on our computers. The only thing his computer had missing was a wireless network card. I'll go to CompUSA to get one tomorrow. In the meantime, he's using an external multi-function wireless device. It's doing the job of getting him online; but, it also creates another NAT subnet with all the problems inherent with that. It means we can't do geeky Linux stuff very easily.
