On freedom and slavery.

if you have no autonomy over yourself;

if you cannot act as a free person;

if ultimate diktat over your behavior does not come from yourself;

you have no self-possession.  Yes? Right?

How can a person possibly govern and master others if he does not govern and master himself? 

Can you command respect if you put yourself in a position which does not deserve respect?

Passivity is repellent.
