-==-==-==--==-==-==--==-==-==--==-==-==--==-==-==--==-==-==--==-==- 12/10/2022 Weather: cold and crisp, a refreshing change from this past week's near-above-freezing and continuous rain... A bit of a lag from my last entry, I was drawn in by the recent exodus of people from Twitter over to Mastodon. I jumped aboard (@etudiant@mastodon.sdf.org, fwiw) and had that "new social media smell" to it, when you're still figuring out how everything works and who the people are that already breathe in this ecosystem. However, something appears to have happened with the SDF server, and it seems that I am locked out of my account. Unsure if that is precisely what it is, but I do appear unable to log into my account and a request to reset the password doesn't get to my email inbox. Well, gopher is still here and working... Received a new module from K, an ALM Jumble Henge [1]. It is a very compact 16 channel mixer, with some filtering and panning features to add spice. It is the kind of module that doesn't strike dramatically new sonic ground, but lends a helping hand at certain tasks (e.g. mixing down 4-6 channels, which happens a fair amount these days), allowing previously-used modules to be assigned to different tasks. My Cold Mac [2] can now stop worrying about crossfading and 6-channel VCA'ing and go back to being a modulation beast. The session I was getting to know the Jumble Henge also had me get a better handle on my Clouds, er, Typhoon module. The whole Clouds thing seems to have a very narrow range of particular settings to elicit particular effects, often it just seems to spiral out into sonic chaos. This time, however, I was able to tame it a bit while still being able to make slight changes. We'll see if I get back on Mastodon, but will keep posting here for the time being.
