I have to say that 2024 had its share of ups and downs, and the downs seemed deeper than the ups if I am being completely honest. But look forward we must despite the dumpster fire that our country is facing with Donald Trump and his band of sycophants. Something I was thinking about today as I searched the web for interesting cooking recipes for the week is that the blogging is dead. Every single cooking and recipe blog I visited is infuriatingly unusable. Ads strangle the pages, pop-ups and redirection abound, it's unusable garbage. Does anyone even do these sites for fun? How much money do they expect to get? Are they all jobless men and women that see their interest as something to whore out for money? It's disheartening to be honest. What is the point of the internet if it's unusable? This led me to think about a domain I own for my name. I've thought about using a github hosted jekyll site on it, something fast, ad free, no javascript or other bullshit as a place to record my thoughts and interests. But every time I start down that path I think to myself, why? What's the point? Who would I be doing it for? My kids? When I die the domain would eventually get sold off to someone else. Would anyone else want to read my drivel? Probably not. Would I b ebetter off just coming up with an elegant latex journal format that I can record my thoughts (I have terribly handwriting), print them off and put them into a binder? Honestly this idea doesn't seem too bad. -Snowcrash
