July 18th, 2012: Bit of a setback last night. We hit Staples after dinner to see if they had a relatively inexpensive USB Wifi adapter. They had one on sale, and it supported Windows XP, so I picked it up. Got it home, fired up the Ultra 5, and... thud. Turns out, the drivers require Service Pack 2 to be installed. No biggie, I downloaded Service Packs 1-3, burned them to a CD, and proceeded to install them. SP1a crapped out, saying my WIndows XP Pro key was invalid. Well, it was... I'd lost my COA and key a couple of years ago, so I went with one I had found online. Ah well. I can still buy sealed, unused copies of XP Pro online, so I'm not overly concerned. At the moment, I'm weighing the pros and cons of spending more money on something that is essentially a lark, a curiosity piece if you will, and a poorly-performing one at that. I'm thinking of installing Windows 2000 on the SunPCi-II for now, and will probably stick with that for the foreseeable future. Then again, I may just take a break from all this computer-related crap for a week or so. I've been neglecting the wife a little too long, and I'm getting concerned about my general safety and well-being ;)
