August 5th, 2012: My hunch was correct: the LCD monitor I was using on the SunPCI-II card was fried. No problem, I grabbed one of the many CRT monitors I have lying around, hooked it up, and we're back in business. In other news, I dragged out my TRS-80 Model 100 and started writing again. As a portable writing/note taking machine, the Model 100 can't be beat. Instant-on, full keyboard, runs forever on 4 AA batteries, what's not to love? Yesterday's phlog post was actually written on the Model 100, copied to my NADSBox (SD card storage device for the Model 100), and sneakernetted to the Ultra 5. I'm still using the original 512Mb SD card that came with the NADSBox... mostly because I'll probably never fill it, but also because it's a special SD card that can connect directly to a USB port (no need for a card reader). The Ultra 5 read the card without issue, I copied the file over and gave it a once-over in Pico, just to make sure there were no errors during transmission. Once that was finished, I copied it over to my SDF space using scp. It took me a few tries to figure scp out (never used it until today), and the tutorials on SDF came in handy. Worked a bit of magic and voila! New phlog post. I love learning new things. Anyhow, off to finish tweaking this Solaris install.
