August 25th, 2013: Yesterday's phlog entry was entered using pssh on my Palm Treo 650 smartphone, which is why the column width is different. One day I should probably fix that. (12/23/13: I just discovered the Justify command in pico. It's fixed) Meh. Today, I'm putting the 2060cds through its paces. I've downloaded the demo version of WinaXe, an Xserver that'll supposedly work with Win98, and will try to find the time to install and play with it for a bit. Probably won't have MUCH time, however. I'm currently following the FC Augsburg - VfB Stuttgart match via liveticker on mobil.bundesliga.de. I'm a HUGE fan of German soccer (despite being a Canadian of English & Irish descent) and follow along every weekend - whether by TV or internet. But that's also beyond the scope of this phlog. Back to browsing. I'm using a trick on the Toshiba that I've used on my older Powerbooks and 68k Macs: set the user-agent string in my web browser to that of a mobile browser! That way, I'm directed to a site's (easier-to-process) mobile page rather than its (CPU-intensive) regular page. In some cases, the remote server will not serve up the mobile page automatically. It's just a matter of entering the mobile address manually to correct this. I use this method to access my Facebook, Google+, and Twitter accounts on older hardware... for no other reason than "because I can". I have yet to try it with my SDF Diaspora account or my Evernote account, but I don't anticipate much difficulty. Again though, I don't plan on doing MUCH in the way of browsing. I'll likely use the 2060cds as a vnc client, ssh and/or remote Xterminal.
