September 15th, 2017: I took this week off from work, and had all sorts of grandiose plans for sorting out our rec room and lab... so go figure both my wife and I get sick. Her kidney issues flared up, as did my respiratory issue (thanks to smoke from the forest fires in Northern Manitoba), so only the lightest jobs got done. *Sigh* Back to work Monday... As I was mostly couch-ridden this week, I spent a lot of time on the Usenet and BBSes, even participating in discussions again, rather than simply lurk. I am honestly surprised at how much time I've been spending on the Usenet. I've been averaging an hour a day, but have topped four hours in a single session a couple of times this week. Granted, most of that was thanks to RSS feeds through GWENE, but Hell, a news feed is a news feed. I haven't spend any time on Gopher, mostly because I haven't felt like writing, but also because there's still not a Hell of a lot to read in Gopherland that truly grabs my attention. One can only read the same old *nix and *BSD stuff so many times... Outside of the computer world, I might have a winter project lined up! I saw an ad on Kijiji for a $20 Auto-Mini folding bicycle that was missing the rear wheel and looked like it had been ridden to Hell and back. I've wanted a folding bike for a couple of years, and thought this would be a great opportunity to learn about internally-geared hubs, wheel building, and folding bikes in general. The seller answered me saying it was still available, so now I wait until he tells me if/when I can come get it. Pins and needles time...
