January 29th:

	Well, I'm still going.  Haven't had much time for anything 
computer-related other than building up my Powerbook G3 "Lombard" with 
software.  I used XPostFacto to install OS X Tiger onto the Lombard (aka 
Nadia), and was pleasantly surprised to see Software Update still worked!

Tiger runs well (if a bit slow) on Nadia, but it's worth it for the 
greater availability of software versus what's available for Panther 
(10.3.9).  Tiger allows me to fulfill my plan of turning Nadia into a 
daily driver.  I can do pretty much everything I want to do (within 
reason), and as such have barely used any of my more powerful machines.

Some of the programs I use daily are:

	MT-Newswatcher (for Usenet and RSS feeds via gwene.org)
	SyncTerm (for BBSing)
	MultiMail (for QWK mail)
	Terminal (for SSH-ing to SDF)
	X-Chat (for IRC)
	Gimp 2.6.11 (for graphics editing)
	TenFourFox (for modern web browsing)
	Camino (for faster web browsing on more forgiving sites)

I'm also running several apps in Classic, like Microsoft Office circa 2000 
and Photoshop 7, bought nearly two decades ago but still useful!

I'm on wifi, I have Bluetooth and Firewire (via Cardbus cards), and I can 
transfer files between my Android tablet, iPhones, and my Palm Treo 650 at 
will.  I made an *investment*, dammit, and I'm going to make it work til 
it dies, out of sheer stubbornness!

But... age finally caught up with the old girl.  Both screen hinges broke 
at the same time a couple of weeks ago!  Thankfully, replacement hinges 
are readily available on the used market, so I won't need to keep using an 
empty Cheerios box to prop the screen up for much longer!

At some point, I'll need to let go.  But we're not at that point yet.
