March 20th, 2018: I had a *D'OH!* moment yesterday. I'd ordered a few goodies for my bikes from Mountain Equipment Co-op last Thursday, and received the stuff yesterday. They shipped from two separate MEC locations (which isn't unusual), and thankfully both arrived at the same time. Unpacking the goods, I found I was short a piece: I received one waterproof pannier cover when I'd ordered TWO! I checked both invoices, and no mention of anything being backordered, so I checked the confirmation email and, sure enough, I'd only ordered one. Ah well, not a big deal. I won't be riding for another month or so anyway, if/when the snow and ice melt and the potholes are fixed. Besides, it gave me an excuse to order more bike stuff from MEC (which I did). Speaking of spring thaw, today is the official First Day of Spring! Spring is officially my least favourite season here in Winnipeg. The weather alternates between "passably warm" and "fucking cold" (sometimes within the same hour), and is always wet. There's also the smell of wet, rotting vegetation once the snow and ice finally melt, and late May blizzards are not uncommon. But, Winnipeg is gorgeous in the summer and fall, which is why I've stayed here all my 45 years. It's a great place to cycle, at least scenery-wise (roads are full of sociopaths in equal measure on two-, four-, ten-, and eighteen-wheels). As you can surmise, I'm rather keen to start riding again...
