March 26th, 2018: What a weekend... I spent Saturday running around shopping with Mrs. IPX and the kid. The most excitement we had was being barred from entering our local Superstore (due to an electrical fire). It was weird, firefighters blocked entrance to the building, but not the underground parking... even as we were being directed to leave the underground lot, they were still allowing cars in. Quite the display. We ended up driving across town to the Superstore near the University of Manitoba, a 20 minute drive that took an hour due to traffic. The weather was warm and dry, which didn't help my sinuses any... they were aggravated by the dust and dirt kicked up by traffic, and flared up pretty bad Saturday night. The missus and I relaxed on the couch Saturday evening, and started watching "Are You Being Served?" from the beginning. I called it "BritBox and Tea", our version of "Netflix and Chill". I was sidelined Sunday. My sinus infection came back with a vengeance, so I spent much of the day either in bed or on the couch. Rather than watch Sesame Street reruns, I fired up my Lombard and played Dungeon Explorer in MagicEngine (the PC Engine emulator) for a few hours. I've forgotten how much fun this game is! I got about halfway through the game before calling it quits so I could nap. The rest of the evening was spent reading through old AD&D modules (first edition) and familiarizing myself with Unearthed Arcana, one of the hardcover addendum/rulebooks that came out near the end of my original playing days. Don't know that we ever actually used any of the new stuff in the book back in the day, although we *DID* delve into the Manual of the Planes rulebook that came a but later. Fun stuff. Some days, I kinda miss it, but while it's fun to reminisce, I really don't want to get back into playing the game again. Besides, in another month the snow will be gone and it'll be cycling season for me again...
