April 16th, 2018: I had a bit of time to work on Felix (my folding bike) this weekend, but I'll spare you the details as I've already posted them on my MOTD blog [1]. I'm rather excited to get out this coming weekend, as we're supposed to see temperatures of 16ΓΈ, perfect riding weather! My Peugeot folding bike (hereafter known as "Amandine") is in the country and is currently making its way through the bowels of Canada Post. Hoping firstly that it arrives intact, and secondly that it's delivered when my wife is home so we don't have to go pick it up from the post office. Computer-wise, I had time to work on a couple of Amigas this weekend. I set out to upgrade my CDTV, but ended up killing it in the process. Not a big deal, this thing has been resurrected over a dozen times since I got it in the early 90s. Hoping to get it up and running sometime this year. I also worked on my Amiga 4000D as well. I installed MUI 3.8, Visualprefs, and Limpidclock, tweaked the visuals to my liking, only to have the ancient 1gb HD crap out. It's hanging shortly after starting the OS, suspect the drive bitmap is buggered again as the drive sounds like a piece of sheet metal being shot-blasted... I'll have to break out the tools to repair it again. This is not an uncommon occurence in this machine, and I remember why it's usually put back into a box and ignored. Some days it's more trouble than its worth. The problem can be permanently solved by installing a "new" IDE HD and maybe using a different Filesystem, but I'll get to that when I get to that. I may even install a FastIDE SATA controller if I can find one at a decent price, and go the SSD route. Financially, it doesn't make sense to spend money on the Amiga 4000, but then it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend money upgrading a 35 year old TRS-80 either (and I have no problem doing that!). I'll get to it eventually. Right now, my mad money goes to my bikes. References: [1] http://sparcipx.motd.org/2018/04/13/project-felix-update/
