May 1st, 2018: New month, new crap. May is my least favourite month at work. It's the height of our busy season, which means we rarely have time to think, let alone go to the bathroom. To top it off, it's the lead-up to our fiscal year end (May 31st) and our annual inventory. Ordinarily, we'll start preparing for our inventory a few months in advance, ensuring stock is where it should be, any overstock is nearby, and any possible pre-counts have been done and noted. That way, come Inventory Saturday, most of the work is done and we're not at work on a Saturday for longer than we need to be. Even us salaried office guys have to help. This year, we've been so busy we haven't had time to *start* our precounts, overtime hours are spent getting existing orders out the door. So yeah, this year's inventory is going to suck. I'm anticipating a *long* day Saturday, with the potential of a Sunday shift, too. Sure the overtime money will be nice (I'm salaried), but I hate to waste an entire weekend at work when I could be with my family or out riding my bike...
