May 7th, 2018: Success! Felix, my Auto-Mini folding bike, is rolling again! I installed the new caged bearings into the bottom bracket, shortened and tensioned the chain, and adjusted the old brakes (which now somehow fit!). I gave the cranks a good turn while on the repair stand, and everything spun smoothly. So, I installed the new saddle, cleaned out the seat tube, adjusted everything for my height, and took Felix for a test ride. Verdict? I *love* this bike! The 44/14 gearing I went with turned out to be perfect, the bike handles like a dream, and is pretty light (being a smaller frame). Once I'm in better shape and get my "bike lungs" [1] back, I may use Felix as a commuter. Once back from my test drive, I installed the PDW Lucky Cat bottle cage and King of Ding II bell. Next step is to install my Bar-ista cup holder and handlebar bags. Once *that* is done, I have to figure out how I'm going to attach the pannier rack, then install the new pedals and brake calipers once they arrive. Then... this project will be finished! References: [1] "Bike Lungs": I have an issue with my respiratory system that keeps me from riding in the cold, or when it's really dusty or smoky (forest fires, brush fires, etc). I'm also dreadfully out of shape, and it takes me a couple of weeks of riding to condition myself for longer distances.
