December 13th: I received my Everdrive-GG last night! I was pretty excited, as it makes my Sega Game Gear that much more portable. I now have all my cartridges on one MicroSD card, which means there's a lot less to carry if I want to game on the go. Of course, I could have saved myself over a hundred bucks and just used a Game Gear emulator on my phone or something, but it's just not the same. I much prefer gaming on the original hardware. Speaking of original hardware, I dug out my Nintendo 64 last Sunday. We had originally planned to buy our daughter a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, but finances aren't cooperating. Lamenting the fact our daughter wouldn't be able to play Pokemon on the big screen now, an idea struck me: I have a largely-unplayed copy of Pokemon Stadium for the Nintendo 64! I'd received it as an unwanted "extra" when I bought the N64 Transfer Pak from an eBay seller, and never played it beyond testing the cart to see if it worked. I set the N64 up and showed our daughter Pokemon Stadium, and she loved it. She couldn't wrap her head around the N64's controller, so she asked me to play while she called out attacks. We made a pretty good team, beating the first tournament/cup. My wife had a go and loved it as well. We now have a video game we can play together as a family. Hopefully, our kid will take an interest in Goldeneye or Perfect Dark next ;)
