May 3rd, 2020: The weather has taken a turn for the worse this weekend. Mid-week forecasts were claiming we'd have a sunny weekend with temperatures in the 20 degrees Celsius range. They lied. It's currently cloudy, zero degrees, and threatening to rain. So much for working outide on the patio today... I had a misadventure with my Model 4p last night, one I'm subtitling "Look Before you Leap". I've documented the affair in the Model 4p Diaries [1], give a look if you're so inclined. -- In other news, neither of our mid-week grocery deliveries included breadstuffs or baked goods - cancelled items due to stockout. I went instead to our favourite local bakery for bread and treats. It was pretty empty when I got there, but by the time I left, there was a lineup to get in (they're only letting 2-3 people in at a time due to the small space). People whined about having to wait outside and about social distancing *still* being enforced, but whatever. You're welcome. Speaking of which, tomorrow will mark my sixth week of working from home. I have to admit, the novelty has worn off and I am looking forward to going back to work; to sit in my nice, quiet office, working on the projects I'd started that pretty much *require* me to be there physically. But I won't go back until both the provincial Health Minister and my employer advise it's safe. My employer has been great - they've been putting out twice-weekly Covid-19 updates, and are not advising those working from home to return until it is absolutely safe to do so (with consideration to those caring for children out of school/day care). Can't really complain, a happy slave is a productive slave. -- I've toyed with the idea of starting a cycling club, which I would totally do if I were more sociable. Traditionally, I don't do well in groups. I mentioned the idea on ZuckerBook, and an old friend mentioned he might be interested as long as I don't "get all political about it". He knows me so well. I told him that might be an issue, as I was going to throw in all the anti-cyclist rhetoric when I named the club. I'm thinking of calling it the "Hidden Agenda Communist Hippie Anti-Car Left-wing Conspiracy Bicycle Lobbyist Club and George Soros Appreciation Society". That's not too political, is it?
